Alex Gaio is a transportation planner with experience in the public and private sectors working on transit planning, strategic planning, and transportation demand management. Alex’s project portfolio includes Calgary’s Green Line LRT, Auckland’s new bus network, Metro Vancouver’s Land Value Capture Affordability Assessment, Canada’s on-demand transit guidelines, and on-demand transit performance analysis in Powell River and Edmonton.

Alex’s PhD focused on self-driving vehicles and bicycle interaction. His interests lie at the nexus of transportation, public health, and sustainability, as well as solutions to challenges such as traffic congestion, lifestyle stagnation, and climate change. He has worked across Canada and around the world learning how urban planning can be an enabler for equity, economic growth, healthy lifestyles, and environmental sustainability.
